Treatment Scope > Circulatory System > Thromboangitis Obliterans
Thromboangitis Obliterans is a slow progressive and segmental inflammatory disease involving arteries and veins. Because of the inflammation in the full layer of arteries, endangium hyperliferation and thrombus formation occur; the vessels are obstructed causing insufficient blood supply in the limbs, finally resulting in gangrene of the limbs. The clinic manifestations are cold in affected limbs, local pain, claudication, and weakness or disappearance of pulse on arteries, even ulcers and gangrene on the tip of limbs.
Main points for differentiation in TCM:
To recognize the cold, heat, deficiency and excess, and stagnation of Qi and blood.
Treatment:
(1). To promote flow of Qi
(2). Anti-coagulation
(3). To dilate vessels and improve microcirculation
(4). To relieve spasm
(5). Anti-inflammation
According to the above treatment, differentiation of symptoms, recognition of disease and combined with the modern pharmacology of herbs, our therapeutic centre makes our own formulae with acupuncture and other comprehensive treatment to achieve remarkable effects. The obstructed vessels become clear, the pain is relieved rapidly and the colour of affected skin is improved to become normal.
